Note: The Dyop™ vision tests are for screening purposes only and are NOT a substitute for an examination by a licensed vision care professional.  All of the Dyop™ Vision Tests are in an Adobe Flash Graphic format and may be viewed using Internet Explorer (with ActiveX enabled) or Google Chrome or Firefox or Safari or other graphic viewers such as Irfanview with the Flash Graphic plug-ins or using the free Adobe Flash Graphic Viewer enabled.  Because they use FLASH, the Dyop™ tests will NOT work on an iPad or iPhone.  Because they use FLASH, the Dyop™ tests will NOT work on an iPad or iPhone unless you use the Photon Browser

These are EXPERIMENTAL tests.

There is a loss of visual processes that frequently accompanies some diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), and certain forms of aging and dementia.  Since Dyops™ create a very precise measure of dynamic acuity regardless of refraction, it is possible that changes (reduction) of Dyop™ perception can be used as an indicator of diminished mental function, and thus serve as a calibration of the disease process.

As mental function diminishes, rotation of the smaller Dyops™ is no longer visible at the normal distance.

Dyop™ Color Contrast Test

Starting at a Viewing Distance of 10 feet, move closer to the images and note the smallest size of the colored Dyops™ that are visible at each distance.

==================================================================================================

Macular degeneration reduces the ability to clearly see in small areas of the visual field.  This experimental test creates a grid of Dyop™ images that may be used to measure specific areas of visual loss.  It is intended to be viewed at a distance of 10 feet from a computer monitor.

Dyop™ Amsler Grid Equivalent Test

Use the Dyop™ images at a Viewing Distance of 10 feet and note the Dyop™ areas that are less visible.

The Dyop™ (Dynamic Optotype™) tests and concept are covered under U.S. Patent US 8,083,353

and International Published Patent WO 2011/022428.
